An Automated Approach for Estimating Weapon Repair Parts Costs.

Abstract

The document explains the complete procedure developed by the US Army Weapons Command to utilize a massive mechanized demand and issue file maintained by the National Inventory Control Point (NICP) for developing an estimate for cost of repair parts used to maintain a fielded weapon on an annual basis. The report includes both manual and mechanized procedures and provides the computer programs that are used. The system features a method of applying repair parts commonality information to identify the portion of total repair parts cost that should be applied to an individual weapon. It is anticipated that this procedure can be adopted by other AMC commodity commands to estimate equipment repair parts costs. (Author)
