Lubricants for Capron Fibers,

Abstract

Prior to textile processing, lubricants are added to fibers. By forming a lubricating layer, the lubricant prevents contact between the fiber and the fiber guide, promoting improved sliding of the fiber. The principal component in the lubricant is mineral oil. Lubricants can also contain emulsifiers and anti-static agents. High standards are imposed on the components of the lubricant: the preparations must be pure. The principal shortcoming of the lubricants in use is their dark coloring. which intensifies with time, and causes an increased tinting of white fibers and a mixing of the colors of dyed fibers. The authors have developed a new lubricating compound with improved chromaticity.
