Wear of a Z Type Coupling of Turbine Rotor Blades,

Abstract

The experimental investigation of the wear resistance of blade stabilizing elements in the form of bolts connecting the overlapping leading and trailing edges of adjacent blade tips is given. The blades were made from 25N3 steel (HB 212 to 223). Bolts measuring 6.5; 8 and 10 mm in diameter were made of annealed 1Kh13 steel (HB 200 to 210), while 12 mm diameter bolts were made from 2Kh13 steel (HB 285 to 290). It proved possible to improve the wear resistance of the bolts by minimizing the clearance between the bolt and the blade, by rounding the edges of the holes in the blades, and by increasing the hardness of the bolt material. The bolt diameter had practically no influence on the wear of the blades.
