The Parametric Representation of Cubic Splines and the Imposition of a Uniform Mesh,

Abstract

In the paper the authors discusses cubic splines although generalizations to splines of higher degree are clearly possible. The author takes as a basic premise that the advantages of having a splines defined on a uniform mesh are sufficient with respect to efficiency of storage and computation to warrant some sacrifice in accuracy in order to obtain a uniform mesh even though the data points are not uniformly-spaced.
