Seabee Equipment System Simulation Model,

Abstract

The publication describes a stochastic simulation model of the equipment portion of the Naval Construction Force System. The model estimates costs and flows associated with owning and maintaining a fleet of equipment, under chosen alternative replacement policies and environmental conditions. The active force level and ready reserve requirements can be altered during the course of a simulation, but the schedule is assumed to be deterministically known. The two principal areas of application of the model are: in improving cost effectiveness by testing alternative management policies, and in forecasting operating and acquisition costs for budgetary purposes.
