Propagation of Elastic Waves in Periodic Fiber Composite Materials.

Abstract

Dynamic behavior of elastic waves propagating in periodic fiber composite materials has been investigated. The only case considered is when the elastic waves are propagating normal to the filaments. Two methods have been used, one being the method of Galerkin and the other one being the method of micromechanics. The tendency of the dispersion curves (group velocity vs. frequency) obtained by using these two methods has been confirmed by the experiment. (Author)
