Torsion of an Elastic Halfspace, Weakened by a Plane Circular Crack,

Abstract

An axisymmetric case of torsion by a flat, round punch on an elastic halfspace, weakened by a circular crack, is considered. It is assumed that the crack is free of loading. The influence of the crack on the distribution of tangent stresses along the punch is investigated, and also the matter of tangent stress concentration with approach to the edges of the crack. The problem is solved by a method of integral equation pairs. (Author)
