Radial Gas Bearing with an Annular Pressurization Line,

Abstract

Solution of the problem of determining the bearing capacity of a radial gas bearing with an injection line through which gas is fed into the lubricating layer. Two methods of feeding gas through the injection line are considered: (1) Feeding the gas directly into the lubricating layer without throttling, and (2) Feeding the gas into an annular groove with throttling. In both cases the pressure at the entrance to the lubricating layer does not depend on the peripheral coordinate. A solution to the Reynolds Equation is obtained by the Galerkin Method. Formulas for calculating the bearing capacity are presented. (Author)
