Study of the Coefficient of Friction in Straight Free Cutting of Carbon-Graphite Materials Using Dimensional Analysis,

Abstract

Several equations were derived by dimensional analysis for the evaluation of perpendicular cutting of solids. The friction coefficient of cutting graphite and coal was markedly higher than the sliding friction coefficient. The effects of the cutting angle on the friction coefficient of graphite were discussed. (Author)
