The Erosive Resistance of Zirconium Dioxide, Stabilized by Yttrium Oxide,

Abstract

Results are presented from the study of the erosion resistance of zirconium dioxide stabilized by yttrium oxide under conditions corresponding to the function of electrodes in the channel of an open cycle type MHD generator. It is experimentally shown that the studied materials exhibit high resistance to the erosive effect of the gas flow (mass removal rate) at 2300 degrees K electrode surface temperature and 500 m/s ionized combustion product flow rate.
