Midday Electron Density Profiles Over Randle Cliff for March 1971.

Abstract

Electron density distributions of the ionosphere over the NRL Randle Cliff Radar are presented for the month of March 1971. A Thomson scatter technique using Faraday rotation was employed. Parameters such as the peak density N sub(F2 max) the height to the peak h sub(F2 max) the total electron content C, the slab thickness Tau, and the scale height H are determined. The degree of correlation between these parameters is deduced and the effect of magnetic activity on the ionospheric profile is briefly explored. (Author)
