On the Response of Elastic Plates Backed by Enclosed Cavities to Turbulent Flow Exicitations,

Abstract

The report concerns some special points of the basic mechanisms of sound generation and structure borne sound due to the interaction between turbulent boundary layer flows and thin, elastic plates backed by cavities. In particular, the specific differences of the excitation by turbulent boundary layer flows compared with that by sound fields are discussed and the responses of the vibrating system in the case of the excitation of natural frequencies either of the plate or of the cavity are determined.
