A Method of Estimating Oil in Compressed Gases.

Abstract

A sample of a compressed gas is passed over activated silica gel. The adsorbed oil is extracted from the silica gel with carbon tetrachloride and the amount of oil dissolved in this solvent is estimated by infra-red spectroscopy using the C-H absorption bands in the 2800-3000/cm region of the spectrum.
