Asymptotic Theory of Nonlinear Wave Motions in Magnetohydrodynamics. Part III. Axisymmetric Waves.

Abstract

An asymptotic approach based upon Lundquist equations is developed for the study of nonlinear wave propagation on a pinch cylindrical plasma. Wave speed and asymptotic evolution equations are derived. A comparison between linear stability criteria and results of the non-linear theory is made and a set of refined stability criteria is obtained. (Author)
