Buckling of a Circular Plate Imbedded in a Nonlinear Elastic Foundation.

Abstract

The buckling of a circular plate subjected to a uniformly distributed compressive edge loading while imbedded in a non-linear elastic foundation is studied. Particular attention is given to the character of solutions in the neighborhood of the points of bifurcation. A perturbation procedure is used to determine the manner in which the buckled solutions depend upon the properties of the foundation. (Author)
