Programs for On-Line Pattern Analysis. Volume I.

Abstract

Since the advent of the general purpose digital computer there has been a growing interest in producing machines which are capable of duplicating the recognition and decision making functions previously reserved for humans. The relevant body of knowledge which has been generated out of this interest has been given the name pattern recognition theory. RADC, in conjunction with Pattern Analysis and Recognition Corp.* is pioneering in the development of a complete facility for solving pattern recognition and other associated problems. The first major step in this development is the implementation of the On-Line Pattern Analysis and RECOGNITION System - OLPARS. This report describes, in detail, the OLPARS system which has been implemented on a CDC-1604B computer system at RADC. The system description is complete as of the data of this writing. (Author)
