A Switching Type Power Supply for Bidirectional dc Motor Control.

Abstract

A motor controller utilizing pulse-width modulation techniques was developed to vary the output of a 24 V dc permanent magnet motor smoothly from full forward to full reverse in proportion to command signals from a control potentiometer. The controller can deliver up to 120 A, provides smooth output, and incorporates a 'negative hysteresis' circuit for canceling the effects of friction in the mechanical system driven by the motor.
