Time Series Editing by Generalized Differences.

Abstract

The concept of generalized differences is discussed, and the application to computer editing of certain time series - namely those mean value function can be approximated by a polynomial - is investigated. Generalized differences are defined as linear filters which retain some of the features of ordinary difference operators. The method for obtaining the filter weights, which are not unique, is presented. The editing procedure for a special case is discussed in detail. (Author)
