Anomalous Ferroelectric Hysteresis Loops.

Abstract

Materials that exhibit anomalous ferroelectric hysteresis loops appear throughout the literature. These loops have irregular shapes that diverge from the normal hysteresis loop which is characteristic of most ferroelectrics. The observation of a unique hysteresis loop found from measurements on single crystals of lead strontium titanate is reported. The shape of each loop was found to depend on frequency, electric field strength, and temperature. The results of these observations were examined to determine if there is a correlation between them and any known anamolous loops. It was found that our hysteresis loops have the same general appearance as the loops exhibited by pre-polarized barium titanate. (Author)
