Extended Applications of Management Information Systems in Government

Abstract

The problem under consideration is one of how to use modern management approaches and tools to assist public officials at higher levels of our government in conducting better policy analyses and determining more overtly the priorities of government and to assist them in conducting and evaluating these efforts in a more efficient manner. It is not averred that newer management approaches applied through a management information system are a cure for all in the Nation, but that they can help. An attempt is made to show how management information systems may be applied at the highest levels of government and to determine what are some of the characteristics which should govern the design and implementation of these systems.
