The Study of the Interaction of Intense Picosecond Light Pulses with Materials (Mode-Locked Lasers)

Abstract

Recent advance in the development of mode-locked lasers is reviewed. In particular the principle of generation and the measurement of the picosecond pulses are discussed. Recent measurements on the spectral and temeral characteristics are included. This data can be used to explain some of the discrepancy found in previous measurements. The application of picosecond pulse for lifetime measurement in semiconductors is also discussed.
