Characteristics of RNA Synthesized in Cells Infected with Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis Virus,

Abstract

Intensive synthesis of virus-specific RNAs occurs in chicken embryo fibroblast cells treated with actinomycin D and infected with VEE virus. The newly synthesized RNA is heterogeneous and 12 to 25% of it is resistant to the effect of RNAse and appears in two forms: double stranded RF with sedimentation constant of 20S and multistranded RI with the peak in the range of 25 to 26S.
