The Electronic Absorption Spectra of Phthalazine.

Abstract

The high-resolution absorption spectrum of phthalazine vapor for lamda > 2000 A is presented. Three diffuse pi' from pi systems and two sharp pi' from n systems are observed. Complete vibrational analyses are given for two forbidden singlet A(2)(n(pi)') from singlet A(1) electronic systems which are separated by 1690/cm. Vibrational assignments are correlated with low-temperature polarization data. (Author)
