A Simple Numerical Scheme for the Determination of the Unloading Boundary.

Abstract

In several types of problems of one-dimensional stress wave propagation in an elastic-plastic material, unloading waves propagate and interact with loading waves at an unloading boundary. A simple, efficient numerical scheme is presented which may be used to compute the solution to problems of this kind. The scheme takes advantage of those general features of the solution which are known a priori. (Author)
