Automatic Marine Polarimeter and Experience in Its Application (Automaticheskii Morskoi Polyarimetr i Opyt Ego Primeneniya),

Abstract

The report discusses a new model of an automatic marine polarimeter lucimeter, the MAI-63. The MAI-63 polarimeter-lucimeter permits one to measure the relative brightness and degree of polarization, and also to determine the position of the polarization plane in various directions in respect to a sphere for depths up to 100 meters in several sectors of the visible spectrum and to register simultaneously the level of total above-water illumination. The polarimeter permits one to study the distribution of brightness and polarization in an azimuthal plane from 0 to 360 degrees, and in a vertical plane, from 0 to 160 degrees.
