The Officer's Handbook,

Abstract

The handbook is intended to aid military personnel in the expansion of their military-theoretical horizon and in the accomplishment of practical tasks on the instruction and training of subordinates. It is especially designed for young officers. The first sections of the book are devoted to military-theoretical problems. The foundations and principles of the Soviet military construction are presented, leadership of the Armed Forces by the CPSU, Marxist-Leninist teaching on war and the army, Soviet military science and military doctrine are discussed, and the bases of Soviet military psychology and pedagogy are considered. The subsequent sections are devoted to the Soviet Armed Forces and to their officer corps. A special section contans reference material on the organization of the Warsaw Pact.
