A Diagnostic Reagent for the Hemagglutination Inhibition Test for Japanese B Encephalitis,

Abstract

In the U.S.S.R. it has become the practice to use noninfectious diagnostic reagents for the hemagglutination inhibition test for the tick encephalitis virus, and these can be the brain extract of infected mice in borax buffer at pH 9,0 and inactivization with - propiolacton. In cultures of sheep embryo livers and fibroblast of chickens which have been infected with the virus of Japanese encephalitis, there takes place during the liquid phase an aggregation of hemagglutinin in titers which are sufficient for use in the hemagglutination inhibition test. There is data on the aggregation in the culture fabric of hemagglutinins and other arboviruses. This provided a basis for the calculation that the culture fabric can serve as a convenient source for receipt of the hemagglutinins of arboviruses. (Author)
