300F Rotating Rectifier Alternator. Phase II. Design, Fabrication, and Test of Alternator.

Abstract

The design, development, fabrication and test of a 3-phase, brushless alternator is described. The alternator is a wound rotor, rotating rectifier machine constructed out of high temperature materials capable of operating in a 300C ambient with radiation cooling only applied. The goal of the development was to establish design feasibility and application experience for the SiC diodes, the dry lubricated bearings and the electrical materials required. (Author)
