Joint Transportation-and-Distribution Control Center.

Abstract

The report summarizes the findings of an Advanced Materiel Concepts Agency Ad Hoc Working Group (AHWG) convened 22-24 June 1971. The AHWG was comprised of 26 computer, display, and information-system experts from Government agencies, industry, and a univerisyt. The goal of the AHWG was to prepare a research and development plan which would give a reasonable expection of optimizing the technological potential of the 1990's in the transportation-and-distribution subsystem of a joint task force commander's management control center. The AHWG was divided into five panels discussing: management requirements, human factors, hardware, software, and communications. The report summarizes the foreseeable state of the art, describes research and development requirements, and suggests certain important approaches for research that could lead to major advances in command and control.
