Research in Probability.

Abstract

The entire effort was devoted to research in the theory of probability. A major part of the work is directly concerned with the theory of optimal behavior in the presence of uncertainty. For some situations, the problem of finding one or more optimal strategies was investigated; for other situations, the problem of finding especially simple optimal and nearly optimal strategies was attacked. Another major part of the work is concerned with the problem of calculating and bounding the probabilities of various complex events of interest. Several of the remaining papers are largely in the nature of simplifications of probabilistic arguments already in the literature. Some of the specific fields to which contributions were made are game theory, gambling theory, analytic sets, Markov Chains in continuous time, margingales, ergodic theory, nonparametric Bayesian statistics.
