Transmitter Tube for Troposcatter Application.

Abstract

The objective of this program is to establish the design criteria for a high efficiency, high gain, high power klystron final amplifier operating in the 4.4 to 5.0 GHz range. The klystron final amplifier is defined as the klystron tube plus its focusing and cooling systems. The power level is 10 kilowatts cw and the objective efficiency of the final amplifier is 47%. During the third report period, all detail design drawings were completed for the high efficiency klystron and its electromagnet. The electromagnet was ordered, received and tested to design specifications. The major effort of this period was devoted to the fabrication of the high efficiency demonstration klystron, which was successfully completed near the end of the present report period. (Author)
