Abstract

The report presents a selective discussion of some aspects of linguistic, statistical, and mixed approaches to automatic pattern recognition, and considers the potential of transformational grammars, a proposed formalism for pattern analysis and recognition, and heuristic and formal procedures for inference of pattern grammars.
