Numerical Methods of Solving Boltzmann Equation (Chislennye Metody Resheniya Uranneniya Boltsmana (Obeor),

Abstract

The paper examines main studies in which attempts were made at numerical solution or modeling of Boltzmann's equation within the wide range of Knudsen's numbers. From the review of obtained results, it can be seen that in the sphere of creating numberous methods only initial progress has been made. Proposed methods are at various stages of their development; many of them require considerable improvement. In Monte Carlo methods, which until now have been most widely used, the equivalency of resultant solutions and solutions to Boltzmann's equation has not been proven until now. One can only say that the proposed solution process is sufficiently logical and obtainable results are probable. (Author)
