Design Computations and Error Analysis for Tire Carcass Plies Using a Closed Mathematical Expression,

Abstract

A very important consideration in the design and development of tire plies is computational approach that yields the value of any co-design parameter quickly and through the use of a closed mathematical expression. From these closed expressions, it is then possible to derive other formulas that facilitate the error analysis of the plies, and based on those one can reach a solution for the statistical production control tolerances. These closed expressions are of particular importance for tires with conventional, that is, bias ply construction, where the changes in cord length and cord angle from point within the same carcass could in the past not be described by closed mathematical expressions.
