Forecasting the Vertical Velocity,

Abstract

With the utilization of the vorticity equation and the basic equation of statics, a method has been developed for the computation of the vertical velocity occurring at the surface of pressure of 800 and 600 mb. Due to some regression equations it is, for the computation of vertical velocity, sufficient to have the values of the mean isobaric surface z and the thickness of the air layer situated below the mean isobaric surface.
