The Outer Gravitational Field of the Earth and the Fundamental Constants Related to It (Vneshnee Gravitatsionnoe Pole Zemli i Fundamentalnye Postoyannye, Svyazannye s Nim),

Abstract

The revision and improvement of the systems of fundamental astronomic constants poses a number of problems. These concern not only the refinement of numerical values of individual constants, but also the general principles of the system construction as a whole. The study is devoted to that part of this general problem which utilizes the outer gravity field of the earth as factual material. The available material is far from being complete, but has made it possible to arrive at a number of important conclusions. These conclusions are directly related to the values of some astronomic constants and can be taken into consideration in the development of the final system of these constants. In addition, a general form of the earth geoid was incidentally obtained in this study, which can be used in a number of geodetic problems. (Author)
