Linear-Array and Feed-Network Performance in a Reentry Plasma Environment.

Abstract

A ten-element linear-phased array on an inhomogeneous dielectric or plasma-clad ground plane is analyzed, and the numerical results are compared with input-admittance, antenna-gain, and radiation-pattern measurements in free space and simulated low-altitude reentry environments. The analysis includes internal feed performance, external mutual coupling, element pattern distortion, input admittance, aperture voltage, and resulting antenna-gain calculations. (Author)
