Ballistic Tests of Cartridge Caliber .50 APIT, T63.

Abstract

The caliber .50 APIT bullet T4E6, assembled into cartridge T63, has a ballistic coefficient of C5 = .3809, a normal stability factor of 2.28, and a time of flight to 600 yards on the ground, when fired at a muzzle velocity of 3200 fps., of .666 seconds. When fired straight forward from aircraft flying 300 mph. at sea level, the time of flight of this bullet to a future range of 600 yards is .70 seconds, closely matching that of caliber .50 T49 and T48 (i.e., M23).
