Precision Quartz Crystals.

Abstract

The report covers work performed under contract to the U.S. Army Electronics Command, the prime objective of which was the development of processing techniques and a mounting system or systems that would produce fundamental model crystal resonators exhibiting extremely high frequency stability with time. Various mounting techniques were investigated, new processes in producing th metallic electrodes evaluated and new manufacturing procedures developed, which resulted in obtaining the desired aging rate. The results obtained during the final phase of the contract in which the refined processes and procedures so developed were coordinated to produce the Advanced Experimental Model requirement in both TO-8 and HC-6/U 'coldweld' holder configurations are shown graphically.
