Turbulent Boundary Layer Development on Spillways,

Abstract

For the common overflow spillway design, the downstream face may be taken to represent a plane surface. Only at the crest of the spillway and its immediate neighborhood, the bottom surface is curved markedly. The boundary layer development at the crest may be disregarded and attention may be given to the turbulent boundary layer of a portion sufficiently removed from the crest.
