Influence of Dynamic Loading, Biaxial Loading, and Pre-Fracturing on the Stress-Strain and Fracture Characteristics of Rocks.
Abstract
The object of the research presented in this report was to obtain stress-strain and fracture data for rocks under a variety of loading conditions. Rocks were tested under quasi-static triaxial stress conditions with a variety of loading paths. Strain rate effects and biaxial loading conditions were included in the experiments. In addition, tests were performed with pre-cracked rock specimens in which the complet strain history was obtained. Descriptions of the apparatus and test methods are included, as well as experimental results from each phase of the program. (Author)
