Effects of Proposed Dikes and Sediment Traps on Shoaling and Currents in Tidewater's Delaware City Channels. Hydraulic Model Investigation.

Abstract

The docking facilities of the Delaware Refinery of Tidewater Oil Company are connected to the main navigation channel of the Delaware River by an entrance channel. Cooling water, necessary to the refining process, is obtained from the Delaware River through an intake canal. Shoaling in this canal is studied and hydraulic models of dikes and sediment traps are proposed in order to reduce maintenance of this channel.
