Analysis and Calculation of Separation in Turbine Stages,

Abstract

The motion of liquid phase and its separation in flow passages of steam turbines are controlled by complex phenomena, rendering the construction of a closed set of equations to represent the process difficult. The forces acting on fluid film and on drops discussed in this paper, including forces of mutual interaction of the film, drops and steam, centrifugal forces, surface tension forces, and coriolis forces. Experimental data have been used to construct a formula for approximate determination of the separation coefficient.
