Abstract

Magnetic systems with compensating magnet, transferred to the end of the channel are analyzed. The linear dispersion is compensated at the position of final image and at the center of that lens of the exist doublet, in which the beam has maximum horizontal spread. As for usual achromatic system; for these almost Achromatic systems a good transmission for given wide band can be achieved. With focusing orders DFFFD and FDFDF the deflection angles in compensating magnet differ by factor of 3-4. In some cases this feature permits having two zero dispersion beams at the end of the system, and switching the beam from one experimental site to another. Alternatively, one can have beams with compensated or enlarged dispersion without loss of the intensity. (Author)
