Metallurgical Investigation of Two 82mm Mortar Tubes.

Abstract

In a metallurgical investigation, the chemistry, mechanical properties, toughness, microstructure, material cleanliness and the dimensions of two foreign mortar tubes were examined. The tubes were made from an A1S1 5140 low alloy type steel with a relatively low yield strength, high toughness and mixed microstructure characteristics. (Author)
