Rate of Propagation of Large Plastic Deformations,
Abstract
The questions associated with the rate of propagation of large plastic deformations in metals subjected to severe loading (e.g., in high speed rolling or forging) are discussed theoretically. A formula is proposed for the velocity of propagation of plastic deformations for the case in which no functional relationship exists between the mass velocity and the degree of deformation. The formula is suitable for all practical purposes involving large deformations.
