Abstract

The document describes the European Theater Network Analysis Model (ETNAM), its potential applications and the basic data required to operate it. It is intended to provide management level information about the model and to provide a basis for a decision to use or not to use the model in specific mobility studies. ETNAM is an optimizing model that uses a special form of the simplex algorithm of linear programming and the shortest chain algorithm of graph theory to select routes and allocate resources to those routes so as to maximize flow, minimize cost or minimize time subject to the constraints of the network and the available resources.
