In-Flight Sensor Phase I.

Abstract

The report describes a 6-month effort to investigate a simple, low-cost, all-mechanical in-flight fractional-g sensor designed to provide a second safety feature for mortar fuze safety and arming devices. Work done under a prior contract in this area is reviewed, as well as the design, operation, and performance of two demonstration models fitted to the S+A device from the M532 proximity fuze for the 81mm mortar.
