Increasing Softwood Dimension Yield from Small Logs -- Best Opening Face.

Abstract

The report presents a system of precisely locating where to make the opening cut in a log so the maximum yield of softwood dimension lumber can be achieved. The opening cut is viral because it not only establishes the position of all other faces, it also fixes their relative width in relation to the required lumber width. (Author)
