Viscoelastic Wave Propagation in Unidirectional Composites.

Abstract

The wave propagation in a unidirectional fibrous composite with viscoelasticcomponents has been studied. A METHOD HAS BEEN DEVELOPED BY WHICH THEATTENUATION DUE TO ANY VISCOELASTIC LAW CAN BE DETERMINED. The procedure isbased on axial power flow and radial energy loss, in terms of previouslydetermined displacement fields and viscoelastic material constants. A specialexample using a Voigt solid has been analyzed and the equation for theviscoelastic constant established. (Author-PL)
